Random Things Blog Hop Featuring Tim Holtz & Simon Says Stamp

Welcome friends! Today I’m joining many talented creators in a blog hop celebrating the brand-new release of coordinating dies for some of the most popular Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamp sets. Be sure to hop along and gather plenty of inspiration!

My project today features the Moth Study set. While these images look incredible colored, don’t overlook the beauty of a simple black-and-white design. The decision to keep the moths monochromatic was inspired by my background.

The background is actually a piece I created a couple of years ago after being inspired by one of Tim’s live demonstrations. At the time, I wasn’t quite sure how I wanted to use it, so I tucked it away for a rainy day.

Fast forward to the release of the Moth Study coordinating dies, and suddenly everything came together. The bold background and detailed moth images were the perfect pairing.

I trimmed the background panel to 4¼” x 5½” and created a window using the Arch die. The frame was popped up with foam tape to add dimension and create a focal point for the moths.

The moths were stamped onto watercolor paper using Versafine Clair ink and then die cut with the new coordinating dies. I popped them up inside the window for added depth and interest.

For the sentiment, I used the Tiny Text stamp set. I heat embossed the greeting in white onto black cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die.

One of my favorite things about coordinating sentiment dies is getting perfectly cut sentiment strips every time—no worrying about trimming crooked lines by hand!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out the rest of the hop for even more inspiration featuring these fantastic new coordinating dies!
