Watercoloring Using Arteza Watercolors

Welcome back everyone! Yesterday I shared how I swatched out my Arteza 36 Half-Pan Premium Watercolors and today I’m using them in a project.

I have a video that you can view down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

Watercoloring can be very intimidating but I have found if you heat emboss your images first, it’s a lot less scary. I’m using Bee Paper and stamping my images using Gina K Designs Embossing Ink. Then I’ll add Hero Arts Gold Glitter Embossing Powder and heat set.

What makes this a little easier is that the heat embossed lines create barriers which makes it a little easier to contain the water and the colors.

I start out by working in sections. I wet the area I’m going to color, pick up a little ink from my watercolor set and lightly drop in the color in the bottom part of that section. After quickly dipping my brush in clean water, I will start to pull that color out towards to edges. The goal is to make it lighter towards the outside edges of the petals.

I apply the same technique throughout all of the heat embossed images. Working in sections makes this a lot more manageable too.

After my images are completely colored and dry, I use the coordinating die set to die cut the images out.

To create a subtle background, I will flick on some Gold Metallic ink that I watered down and also some of the same paint color that I used in the flowers. This pulls all the colors together nicely.

I will lay out my images onto a piece of Ivory card stock and attach my smaller flowers using Lawn Fawn Liquid Glue and the large image with Gina K Design foams squares.

The sentiment, also from the Grateful Heart stamp set, is heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder onto Pitch Black card stock and attached with foam squares as well.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration.

Neat & Tangled Recap

Welcome everyone! Did you enjoy the inspiration all week featuring Neat & Tangled? I hope so! It’s a small but powerful release! Today I’m just recapping what I shared this week and ok…. I created one more card for you

Here’s a look at all the cards from the week. So many ways to use these sets and I STILL have more ideas!

For more information on each card you can visit the previous posts: Day 1 Inspiration, Day 2 Inspiration, Day 3 Inspiration, and Day 4 Inspiration.

Another item I had for the Grateful Heart stamp set was emboss resist. I stamped the image onto Bristol Smooth card stock with embossing ink. Then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I ink blended Fruit Punch and Strawberry Milkshake ink from Taylored Expressions using blending brushes. Since this is a dye-based ink, it does stain the white embossing powder a little but I think it adds some softness to the image.

Next I die cut the shape out of a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and added foam tape and Acetate to create a window. I originally planned on making it a shaker card but didn’t have enough room, so I just left it as a window card.

I finished off with my sentiment heat embossed in white on Pitch Black card stock and a few of the gold enamel dots.

Thanks so much for joining us this week! Be sure to grab your August release!

CARD DETAILS

My card today may stand out at you but it’s really quite simple to create. I’m starting out with a piece of Cherry Red card stock from Gina K Designs. Using a comfort block, I randomly stamp my floral image from the Grateful Heart stamp set in Embossing Ink to create my own background. Then I heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder.

Using blender brushes from Taylored Expressions, I ink blend Cherry Red Ink onto my card base. I start heavy around the edges and lighten up as I get towards the middle. I actually do not ink blend in the middle of the card. I wanted to leave a highlight area.

To really deepen the edges, I ink blend a little Chocolate Truffle. Check out that contrast!

To finish off the card, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Dream Big stamp in gold onto Pitch Black card stock. I also added a couple of the black enamel dots, also from this release.

CARD DETAILS

Now not that I’m dreaming of Christmas or snow but the new Delicate Dot background stamp makes the most perfect snow! I stamped the background in clear embossing ink onto a piece of Powder Blue card stock. Then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I added a touch of ink blending around the edges using the Powder Blue ink from Gina K Designs with a Life Changing Blender Brush.

How adorable is this llama? It’s not new but it sure is cute! I stamped it in copic friendly ink and colored with copic markers. Then used the coordinating die to cut it out and add to my snowy background with foam squares. I hope you have the Fa La La stamp set in your stash because as I was gathering my links for my list below, I could not find it available anyway. Sorry about that!

This sentiment is also on the Fa La La stamp set. I just heat embossed it in white embossing powder onto Blue Denim card stock and trimmed into strips to add to my card front.

VIDEO DETAILS

I have a release video + card that you can view down below or HERE on my Youtube channel. I will show you each of the new products and make a card from start to finish.

I used all of the new products on my card today. I’m going to start it off by coloring my images from the NEW Grateful Heart stamp set, using my copic markers. I stamped the images in Obsidian Amalgam Ink from Gina K Designs onto Neenah Solar White card stock. The copic colors I used are RV69, RV66, & RV63.

Once colored, I used the coordinating die to die cut the images.

For my background, I’m stamping the NEW Delicate Dots stamp set onto White card stock using the Obsidian Amalgam Ink. This background will work so well with so many other images as well.

The sentiment is also from the Grateful Heart stamp set. I stamped it in clear ink onto Black card stock and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I arranged my images onto my background and glued the flowers in the background to the card front with Lawn Fawn liquid glue. To add dimension to my card, I attached the large flower image with Gina K Designs foam squares.

My sentiment is also popped up with foam squares and I finished off the card by adding some of the NEW enamel dots. I don’t show them in the pictures above but I did add them to the card I recreated in the video.
