Welcome everyone and Happy Friday! I’m continuing on my journey of experimenting with Ranger Embossing Glaze. While I’m very happy with how the card turned out, I’m also going to share what I would have done differently.
Today I’m using a variety of Distress Spray Stains including Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean on Distress Watercolor cardstock. I’ll also be using some of the Mica Sprays.
I randomly spray my background with the variety of colors. When spraying, I’m using a sweeping motion so the color isn’t focused in one area. To start, I’ll lightly spritz my cardstock with a mister, then spray the spray stain and dry. I’ll repeat this process, drying in between each application until I achieve a look I’m happy with.
After the panel is completely dry, I’m going to randomly stamp some snowflakes from the Swirly Snowflakes stamp set in embossing ink. Then I will sprinkle on Broken China Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
Then I ago around the edges of my cardstock with a blending tool and Chipped Sapphire distress ink. This seems to be the trick for me to have a finished look to my spray stain backgrounds.
*** One thing I would have done differently is not start off so dark on my background. While I love how subtle the snowflakes appear, if I would have started with lighter colors in the background, the snowflakes would have shown up a little more.
I added some splatters using a splatter brush and Permanent White Gouache.
My sentiment comes from the Hero Arts Merry Christmas Scripty set. I die cut it from Holographic cardstock and layered it with two more words die cut from white cardstock for dimension.
I also added a couple gems using the Ice Sparkle Crystals.
