Hi, it’s Mindy and welcome back to my blog!
Today I’m sharing a clean and simple shaker card featuring the Sailboat Circle from Simon Says Stamp. I love how this die creates such a peaceful little scene, and paired with a softly blended sunset background, it has a calm, relaxing feel. The touches of matte gold add just enough shine without taking away from the simplicity of the design.
I started by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 3½” x 4¾” and die cutting the Sailboat Circle from the center. This creates the window that will become the shaker element.

To create a coordinating frame, I kept both the outer circle and the sailboat circle together with low-tack tape and ran them through my die cutting machine again using matte gold cardstock. This gives me a perfectly sized gold frame along with the bottom portion of the sailboat in a beautiful metallic finish that adds a subtle, elegant detail to the design.
Using double-sided tape, I secured a piece of acetate over the opening on the back of my window panel. Then I adhered the matte gold frame to the front with liquid glue.

For the background, I cut another piece of white cardstock to 3½” x 4¾” and blended Rose and Honey inks with a blending brush. The two colors melt together to create a beautiful sunset sky with warm golden tones that feel peaceful and inviting. It’s a simple color combination, but it gives the entire card a beautiful glow behind the sailboat.
Before assembling the shaker, I stamped a sentiment from the Beautiful Day stamp set just below the window using VersaFine ink. I always like to stamp sentiments before adding dimension to a card whenever possible—it keeps everything nice and flat while stamping and takes away the worry of accidentally smudging the finished project.
Next, I added foam tape around the back of the shaker window to create the well for the shaker elements. After sprinkling in the Starshine Embellishment Mix, I placed the ink-blended background over the exposed adhesive, sealing everything inside and creating the completed shaker panel.

To finish the card, I adhered the shaker panel to a Fog cardstock card base measuring 4¼” x 5½”. The soft gray cardstock complements the warm sunset colors without competing with them.
Finally, I added the sail, die cut from white cardstock, to complete the simple nautical scene.
I love how this design comes together with just a few layers and a limited color palette. The soft sunset blending, delicate gold accents, and gentle movement from the shaker create a card that feels calm, elegant, and easy to recreate.
