VIDEO: Winter Whimsy: Easy Christmas Card Idea

Hi Everyone! Welcome back! I have an easy Christmas card idea to share with you today featuring a few new stamp sets from Gina K Designs latest release.

Today I’m going to be creating this simple snowy village scene with a little heat embossing, some stamping and top it off with ink blending.

I have a video walking you through this process that you can view down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

I’m going to start by stamping my village from the Winter Whimsy stamp set onto Layering White cardstock using embossing ink. Then I’ll add clear embossing powder and emboss with my heat gun. The clear embossing powder traps the color of the cardstock underneath so my houses appear white. You could also just use white embossing powder.

Next, I’m going to ink blend Turquoise Sea, Tranquil Teal and Plum Punch using inks from Gina K Designs with a blending brush to achieve a smooth transition between colors.

Before I do an additional stamping, I’m going to trim my panel out with the Master Layouts 2 die set.

I’ll create a snowy hill using the Master Layout 6 and white cardstock. Then trim that with the Master Layout 2 so it’s the same width as my blended panel.

Next, I’ll load my blended panel back into my Misti and stamp the trees from Winter Whimsy in Stormy Sky ink. I’ll then take a towel and wipe away the ink that was resisted on the heat embossed houses.

Now, I’ll splatter my background with water and also Copic Opaque White ink to create snow.

The sentiment I’m stamping in Obsidian ink on my snowy hill is from the Sentimental Holiday stamp set. This set is great for greetings on the front AND inside of your cards.

I finished off the card by layering 3 sheets of white cardstock behind my blended panel measuring the same size so it adds an even cover of dimension. Then added to a white card base.

I hope this has inspired you. I love how the trees appear in the background of my houses for this little snowy village.

This card is also a part of an Instagram Hop that I am a part of today celebrating The Ink Stand one year in business! I have really enjoyed using their products and they are amazing people!
