I’m so super excited to be joining Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop this month! We have tons of inspiration to share with you. Today is Day 2 of the hop so be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp blog for Day 1.
My card today is probably one of the quickest cards I’ve ever created.
VIDEO
I have a video showing how Perfect Pearls works on Black cardstock that you can view down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.
I think Perfect Pearls deserves way more attention then I’ve given it. It’s been sitting in my drawer for a few years now and I’ve only really ever used it to add flicks of shimmer to my cards. Ok, I think I maybe did one background with it recently but still…. I need to use it more!
Today, I’m using it to create a show-stopping background with the help of the Spring Flowers background stamp.

Check out all that shimmer!
I used Versamark ink to stamp the background onto Black cardstock and then used Iris and Blue Hydrangea Perfect Pearls to cover the ink.
After you brush off the excess powder you are left with a ton of gorgeous shimmer. It almost looks like metallic ink or metallic watercolors. This literally only took me minutes to do.
You can set the background with a fixative, which I didn’t have on hand. Instead, since Perfect Pearls contains a binding agent, I misted some water into the air and just swooshed my background into the mist. I repeated this a few times.

Keeping the focus entirely on the background, I added just a simple sentiment using the Hexagon Greetings and it’s coordinating die. I stamped the sentiment in Altenew Obsidian Pigment ink and after die cutting it out, I added to the front of the card with foam tape.

I did trim the panel down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and added to a Fog card base with foam tape to add dimension. I couldn’t help but add a few jewels around sentiment.

Perfect Pearls are a “perfect” stash supply. They are always ready to go and provide such elegance. Paired with this new background stamp, you have made a “Wow” card quickly! Thanks for the inspiration
Love the background! Gorgeous!
Oh wow Mindy! This is stunning! I wondered how you did the background as soon as I saw it and I wasn’t thinking Perfect Pearls!! I have a bunch of them and don’t think to use them often. I used them once recently after I watched a Jennifer McGuire video, and I loved the results but then put them away again!! I did not try them on a black/dark background and I love how that looks even more!! Definitely pulling them out to use on some dark cardstock & background stamps!!
Really love the Perfect Pearls background. The color is awesome!
Spring Flowers is a great stamp for this technique. I have seen people use eyeshadow instead of perfect pearls too, though I do not thing the results were quite as good.
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! The quickness, the ease, and the POP!
Wow! That dark background is amazing!!!
