Cards Christmas Embossing Folders Simon Says Stamp

Festive Wreath

Welcome friends! I’m brimming with inspiration lately and couldn’t wait to share today’s festive project with you.

This card features the stunning Festive Wreath 3D Embossing Folder from Simon Says Stamp, and it’s all about adding subtle details, shimmer, and dimension to make your holiday designs shine.

I started with a piece of Bellini cardstock and placed it inside the embossing folder. Before running it through my Platinum 6 die cut machine, I inked up one side of the folder with white pigment ink. When pressed into the cardstock, the white pigment transfers to the flat areas of the design, slightly lightening the background while leaving the raised embossed details crisp and untouched.

To really bring the design forward, I went over the raised areas with a small blending brush and Peach Bellini ink. This adds beautiful warmth and makes the wreath pop against the background.

For extra texture, I splattered the panel with Saltwater Taffy Distress Spritz—a perfect subtle shimmer that adds interest without overpowering the embossed design.

Once the panel was dry, I trimmed it to 3 ¾” x 5″ and layered it onto another piece of Bellini cardstock cut to A2 size (4 ¼” x 5 ½”). I used foam tape for dimension, which really helps the embossed details stand out.

For the focal point, I added the Joy and Cheer sentiment to the center of the wreath. The sentiment is layered for depth, with stacked layers of white cardstock and a top layer cut from Rich Red Metallic cardstock for a bold, festive finish.

To add a bit of sparkle and shine, I applied Glossy Accents to areas of the embossed design and sprinkled on Rock Candy glitter. This catches the light beautifully and gives the whole card an extra festive glow.

This technique of inking your embossing folder before running it through the machine is such a fun way to get a “two-tone” effect and bring out even more detail from your folders. Combined with splatters of shimmer, shiny sentiments, and a little glitter, it’s an easy way to make a holiday card feel extra special!
