Cards Lawn Fawn

Honeycomb Backdrop

Hello and welcome to Mini May 2023 Inspiration and Release week! On May 18 our 4 new stamp sets and coordinating dies along with 6 new standalone die sets, 2 new hot foil sets, and a new stencil will be for sale at your favorite store and at www.lawnfawn.com! Woohoo! Until then we will have fun posts with design team projects, intro videos, and giveaways!

Today is our showcase of Honeycomb Backdrop! This stitched backdrop die will add lots of detail to all of your sweet-as-honey projects! Use different colors of cardstock to add fun patterns to the stitched honeycomb cells for a cool effect.

Now this card I had a ton of fun creating!

I started by die cutting the Honeycomb Backdrop from Paperbag cardstock and trimming out parts of the honeycomb.

Next, I attached the honeycomb backdrop to a piece of acetate using liquid glue and added foam strips to the outside edge to create a shaker well. Then I set aside.

For the backdrop of my card, I ink blended Sugar Cookie, Sunflower, No 2 Pencil and Walnut Inks onto white cardstock. Then I splattered with white paint and also smooshed down some Walnut ink onto my work surface, added a bit of water and splattered that as well.

After the background was dry, I added some sequins mix and attached my front shaker panel.

For the front of the card, I added a pop up bee without the pop up.

I also created a sentiment from the Cole’s ABC’s die cut from Sunflower cardstock and ink blended from the bottom of the letters with No. 2 Pencil ink. I layered the letters together for dimension and after adding to the front of the card, I applied some Stickles.

For the smaller sentiments, I used the Simply Summer Sentiments and heat embossed in Gold embossing powder onto Black cardstock. Then trimmed out to fit around my die cut word on the front of the card.

This may be one of my favorite cards I’ve created from the Mini May release!

Hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration! Be sure to visit the Lawn Fawn blog for more inspiration and enter the giveaways!
