Welcome to the Cheer & Joy release from Simon Says Stamp!
I’m so excited to share some inspiration with you featuring the Reindeer Background stamp from CZDesign.
VIDEO
I have a video that you can view down below or HERE on my Youtube channel on how I created these 3 cards.
CARD DETAILS
All of my cards are featuring the same technique but in a variety of colors. I’ll be using Nuvo Shimmer Powders to create an easy watercolor background.
I’ll start by stamping my Reindeer Background in Embossing Ink onto a piece of Canson XL watercolor card stock using my Misti tool. I like to use the Misti tool, especially in this case, because I can stamp it twice. Watercolor card stock is textured and you may not get a good impression the first time.

I sprinkle on white embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner heat tool.
Next, I’ll tape my card stock down to a wooden cutting board using blue painters tape or you could use Purple Tape. I spritz the card stock with clean water and then start to sprinkle on some Nuvo Shimmer Powder. For this particular card, I’m using Blue Blitz. You can pick up the board to move the powder around in the water or spritz over the powder again.

I’ll dab any excess water on the sides and then set off on the side to air dry.
I use a variety of colors of Shimmer Powders. My green background is using Green Parade, Solar Flare and Falling Leaves. For the pink background, shown down below, I use Catherine Wheel and Cherry Bomb Shimmer Powder.
Once it’s dry it leaves a gorgeous shimmery watercolor background. I trim the panels down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and attach to craft foam to help flatten out the water color piece. Then I can attach to an A2 size white card base.

I die cut some trees using the Christmas Tree Die from Simon Says Stamp to add to my cards.
I also die cut a variety of colors of card stock and glitter card stock using the Merry Dies from CZ Design. For card stock I used Christmas Pine, Cherry Red and Passionate Pink from Gina K Designs.
For glitter card stock I used the green and red from the Holiday Glitter card stock collection from Lawn Fawn and the Magenta glitter card stock from Simon Says Stamp.

The Merry Die also have a shadow layer that I die cut from Pearlescent Vellum.

I added another sentiment that coordinated perfectly with my cards. Using the small Christmas sentiment from the Ornamental stamp set, I stamped in embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then die cut out the sentiments with the Sentiment Labels die.

To finish off the cards, I added Like Magic sequins mix from Neat & Tangled and topped them off with Cloud 9 Dream Drops.
Playing with the Shimmer Powders is so fun and unique!
