I’m squeezing in a couple challenges and projects before I leave for a trip later this week. This post is for the sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things.
I had done some playing around with a watercolor background using Tim Holtz Watercolor cardstock and Gansai Tambi watercolor set. I’m not real experienced with watercolors so it was fun to play around with creating the galaxy.
Once the galaxy was dry, I die cut it from the Gina K Circle Small Double Stitched Die. My stitched frame border is from the My Favorite Things Single Stitched Rounded Rectangle Die. My little pirate I thought would be perfect for this and she is from the Party Like A Pirate Set. The finishing touch was adding a few drops of the Nuvo Drops – they glitter so it reminded me of stars! All supplies are listed down below.

Hi! I love this card! About your galaxy…it looks like it may have come from a text book! (Do they still use them, I wonder?) I have those paints. Did you paint it all black and then apply grey or white over it? I understand about the drops. I am asking about the background. My husband loves all things space. I'd love to do a scrapbook page and card with your technique. Please fill me in!

Hi Traci! Sorry I didn't reply sooner – I've been out of out town since last week. I put splotches of colors on the paper first.. dried it and THEN cam back over it with the black. It's very similiar to my Boho flowers card background if you want to check out that video except I used black paint instead for the galaxy. Check it out and let me know if that helps. I'm hoping to get a video for it done once I'm all settled in 🙂
