I had posted a question in the community section of my Youtube Page about what types of videos people wanted to see. One of the responses was my process or how to get your mojo back. This video is a little of both.
You can watch the full tutorial down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.
So there are plenty of days when I just want to create but really don’t know what I’m going to do or what colors to use. I start by gathering products I’d like to work with.
Without yet knowing the design of the card, I knew I would need a sentiment so I went through my stash and found one I liked. I stamped this sentiment out from the Birthday Wishes stamp set using Intense Black ink and cut it out with the coordinating die.
One more thing I wanted was to add subtle interest to the background so I die cut out a panel from the Rainbow A2 Pierced Plate.
Alright, so all of the components are ready.
I start to fidget with the placement. I still hadn’t put my Magnolia together yet or even added color to it but I got the design down.
There are so many ways I could have colored the Magnolia and when I started to feel overwhelmed by making a decision, I tend to fall back to the rainbow. By using a rainbow of colors, this helps eliminate me having to figure out a color for the background. So I just left everything white and used Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Salvaged Patina and Wilted Violet for my flower.
Lots of white space for me but I was loving how it was coming together.
Now one thing I did with the Circlescape Shaker Frame was cut the base from Vellum and the frame from Matte gold card stock. By adding the vellum and adding this to the front of my card, I’m diffusing the background so the piercing isn’t over-powering the card. This trick works really well when you have a colorful background.
