Hello friends! I had a chance to sit down and play with the brand-new Spooktacular Collection from Simon Hurley, and let me tell you—it’s absolutely adorable. The little ghosts in this set completely stole my heart; they’re just so darn cute! Today I’ll be sharing how I used them to create a fun and festive card that’s perfect for Halloween.
You can keep the ghosts simple or have fun dressing them up with hats and glasses. I couldn’t resist adding the accessories to mine—it really made them come to life!
I am using all Spellbinders Colorwheel cardstock for my die cutting. The colors include:
I had a great time mixing in some previously released products to create the background.
I started by blending Wild Lilac, Dark Lilac, and In The Navy inks across my background with a large blending brush, creating a smooth gradient of rich color. After allowing it to dry completely, I foiled the Falling Stars BetterPress plate with Champagne Glimmer Foil for a touch of shimmer.
The little ghosts are floating down the card in a playful cascade, some popped up on foam squares and others adhered flat with liquid glue, giving the scene a fun layered look.
For the sentiment, I reached into my stash and selected the Halloween Icons press plate. I foiled the sentiment onto Brushed Black cardstock with Champagne Glimmer Foil, which ties in beautifully with the background.
That wraps up my card! Between the cascading ghosts, the starry foiled sky, and the shiny sentiment, this project really feels like Halloween in card form. I can’t wait to make more with this adorable collection—it’s just too much fun!
