VIDEO: Alcohol Ink, Texture Paste & Stencils

Hi friends! Today I have a fun project to share with you using my alcohol inks, stencils and texture paste. This kind of has a mixed media feel to it (in my opinion) and it was so fun to create!

VIDEO

You can view the video down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

I’ll be using the Bold Bouquet stencil from Gina K Designs. This is a great image to ink blend of course, but I was playing with alcohol inks one day and thought this would be fun too!

I’m using the Ranger Yupo paper cut to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2 and working on my travel glass media mat. I prefer to work on a glass surface when it comes to alcohol inks because it’s so easy to clean up with hand sanitizer afterwards.

I’m using Raspberry, Stream and Gilded Alloy alcohol inks for my background.

Now to move the ink around, I prefer to use Isopropyl but you can certainly use blending solution.

In the video you may notice I’m moving the ink around with a different type of tool than what you normally see. There is a puffer tool from Ranger that you can use, or even a hair dryer but I dug out my airbrush from Craftwell. I just plus it in and it has 3 different settings. This is normally used for airbrushing but I also like to use it to move my alcohol inks.

Once I finished the background and it had dried, I applied the stencil by spraying a bit of Pixie Spray on the back, holding the stencil down with my magnets on my Make Art Stay-tion and applying Matte Texture Paste.

I purposely didn’t smooth over the stencil because I wanted it to have some scuff to it. It IS texture paste after all.

After the texture paste was dry, I added a small sentiment from the Sentiment Strips sheet that is in the Luck & Love Card Kit.

I also added the new Frozen Rhinestones using my connect glue.

Hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration! While I am a big fan of ink blending and stencils, I think it’s just to change it up a bit.

  1. Ooo la-la, Mindy. GOR-GEOUS! I have zero talent with alcohol inks. I got more on me than I did on my project. Maybe you got my portion of alcohol ink talent because this is phenomenal! haha haha 😂😂😂
