Create Your Own Background – Lawn Fawn You’re Just My Type

Welcome everyone! I’m jumping out of Christmas cards and heading into a super sweet and colorful card featuring products from the Lawn Fawn mini-release. Today, I’ll be creating my own background with this adorable typewriter from the You’re Just My Type stamp set.

I have a video that you can view down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

Creating backgrounds with images have always been a little tricky for me. I want to share with you some tricks I found along the way that help make the background a little more appealing to the eye.

First, I stamped a bunch of typewriters in Jet Black Ink onto Lawn Fawn white card stock. I also stamped out one little mouse. I colored the typewriters and the mouse with copic markers. The colors I used for the typewriter are N5, N2, BG32 and BG49. The copic marker colors I used for the mouse are E34, E31, E30.

Next I stamped this fun heart design onto the paper coming out of the typewriter. I used a rainbow of colors including Chili Pepper, Guava, Fake Tan, Sunflower, Jalapeno, Mermaid and Juice Box. You could stamp these images directly onto your card front but it was easier for me to die cut each of the images out. That way I can move them around or pop them up for dimension if I choose.

Once everything was die cut, I started arranging my rainbow. I made sure some were hanging off the edge of the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ white card front. When working on the second row, I placed the typewriters in between the ones in the top row. You could line them all up so they are all in line with each but that wasn’t the look I was going for.

After I had them lined up the way I wanted, I attached them down with a tape runner. I have a heart die cut from Ballet Slippers card stock using the Outside In Stitched Heart Stackables die that I’m attaching to the bottom corner using foam squares.

The sentiment is heat embossed in white onto Black Licorice card stock. I used a banner from the Double Slider Surprise die. Lawn Fawn has a ton of different banners you could use, this was just the first one I saw in my stash that worked with the sentiment from Love Poems.

I also added the mouse to my card using foam squares.

I usually don’t decorate the inside of my cards but I had an extra typewriter left over that I wanted to use. I stamped a sentiment on it from the Love Poems stamp set and attached that to the inside of my card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card! Supplies are listed below.
