VIDEO DETAILS

I have a video today sharing how I created this card using products including Life Changing Blender Brushes, the Cut Align and Elegant Asters stamp set . You can view the video down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

For my first card to share, I start out by stamping the butterfly from the Elegant Asters stamp set from Gina K Designs using Amalgam ink. I, of course, used the Misti tool to stamp my image as I rarely stamp without it. I used RV14, Y08 and BG45 to color my butterfly, over lapping the colors so they blend to form new colors and give me a hint of a rainbow.

The background is created by ink blending Soft Stone Ink onto Layering white card stock with the Life Changing Blender Brushes from Picket Fence Studio. I’m using the Floral Damask Stencil which is beautiful pattern that I’m using for subtle background to my card.

I’ve been in love with these brushes the moment I touched them. I’m a strong believer in them. They are made from plastic hairs which pick up the ink – not absorb like make up brushes. You can use a variety of inks including Dye based and also Distress Oxides. I’ve used most everything except permanent ink like Versafine or Staz on. These brushes are also easy to clean. You can either wipe off on a scratch sheet of card stock, a rag or rinse with a little soap and water. Just do not apply heat to dry them off! Are they a little more pricey then the cheap set on Amazon? Yes. But in my opinion – totally worth it. I want to support the companies that are out there putting their dreams into motion – not some cheap knock off on Amazon. (my two cents)

I trimmed my ink blended panel down and layered my card front with Black Onyx and Ocean Mist card stock.

Now for my sentiments, I die cut the Wishes from Ocean Mist card stock three times and layered with Connect glue. I added a little bit of ink blending with Turquoise Sea to the bottom half of the die cut word. The word Birthday comes from the Wishes Mini stamp set. I heat embossed in White onto Black card stock and used the Cut Align from My Sweet Petunia to trim out a perfect sentiment strip.

The Cut Align is really quite handy. I don’t have a lot of room on my craft table so if I’m working on a card and need to trim down a sentiment, I can pull out the Cut Align and my craft knife versus hauling out my electronic die cutting machine. You line up one of the guide lines from the Cut Align with the bottom/top of your sentiment and follow the Cut Align guide to trim out. I apply light pressure and go over the cut area multiple times. A trick I found is you can attach you card stock to your craft table with some purple tape and then that way you don’t have to worry about the card stock slipping on you.

WHEW! Lots of useful tips in those paragraphs so I hope you were able to sit down and have a good read.

My next card is using the Peacock Tail stencil from Picket Fence Studio. I lightly ink blended Ocean Mist and Key Lime Ink for a soft background.

I trimmed down my panel and layered my card front with White, Black and Ocean Mist card stock.

The big Hello word die is die cut from Black Onyx card stock. This word die came in the Elegant Asters card kit.

The small summer sentiment is from the Wishes Mini Stamp set. I stamped on white card stock and trimmed down with the Cut Align. This is such a great tool for these small sentiments.

One last touch, is by adding some drops drops around the tops of the peacock feathers with the Nuvo Dream Drops in Cloud 9. I honestly wasn’t going to add anything but I found spot on one of the feathers that I couldn’t get off so I decided to cover it up. This worked out perfectly.

Now that you’ve read my book, be sure to hop along for more inspiration! I hope you enjoyed my cards and tips along the way. Leave a comment on the blog hop to be entered into the giveaways!

You’re next stop on the hop is Stephanie Severin. I also have the complete line up listed below in case you get lost along the way.
