Jane Davenport

Welcome everyone! I have something a little out of my element for you today but it’s tons of fun !

Recently, Spellbinders sent me some products by Jane Davenport to play with. While it’s not my usual type of card, it was so fun to sit and just play! And you know, quite honestly, this first card makes me giggle each time I look at it.

I’m working with the Tentalicious Etched Dies for this card. I knew immediately I was going to create an underwater scene. I’m using a piece of Canson Watercolor card stock and my craft mat. I started by ink smooshing on to my craft mat some Twisted Citron Distress Oxide. I spritzed with water and smooshed my card stock down.

I dried the first layer of ink on my card with my heat tool. I repeated this process by using Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxides. Each time, I’m drying my ink before smooshing down another color.

Then I flicked some clear water onto the background with a paint brush. I trimmed this piece down to 4″x 5 1/4″ and added to a white card base made from Neenah Solar white card stock.

I die cut the Tentalicious Etched dies from Blue Denim card stock. The dark blue looks amazing against this background don’t ya think?

Since these are just dies I needed a sentiment for my card so I dug through my stash. I found the Sea Animals stamp set from Simon Says Stamp and it had this fun sentiment on it. Doesn’t it make you just giggle?! Maybe I entertain easily. I stamped the sentiment onto white card stock with Blue Denim ink to match the tentacles and trimmed down to thin strip. I added it to the card front with foam tape for a little dimension.

My next card is featuring the Mindful Pause stamp set from Jane Davenport. I went for clean and simple with this one. I stamped my images onto Neenah Solar White card stock with copic friendly ink and colored the image with copic markers. Now you can think this is orange juice …. or maybe something mixed in the orange juice, whichever you prefer.

I started by ink blending Cracked Pistachio around the outside edges with my Life Changing Blender brushes. Then I added Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink. I should have went with a different color of blue because all this did was create a very vibrant green, which is still really pretty!

Everyone needs to take a mindful pause in life and this card is a great reminder of it.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at these new products. They were super fun to play and something totally different for me. Sometimes you have to do that.

Thank you to Spellbinders for sending these to me work with and just have a little fun.
