Sweet Peek Day 4 – SugarPea Designs

Welcome to Day 4 of Sweet Peeks from SugarPea Designs! I think this one may be my favorite! I have TWO cards to share today plus a video!

Both cards use the same technique, just different colors. Using a craft mat, I smoosh some distress inks and spritz with water. Then take a piece of Canson watercolor paper (smooth side) and smoosh it into my ink. I personally do one color at a time and dry in between with a heat tool. This usually helps minimize my colors mixing into mud.

I really lucked out on this first card that I was able to use Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet and Twisted Citron Distress Inks. When I tried to recreate it for a video, my Twisted Citron and Wilted Violet made mud. That led to my second card which you’ll see below.

Once my background was how I liked it, I used a Misti stamping tool to stamp the feathers randomly on my card. I also went ahead and stamped a sentiment while I had my ink out.

For each card, I added just a dab of copic coloring. I tried to pick some colors that were a shade darker then what was on my card. I started from the middle and just added flicks of color. I also came back in with some cool greys to really add some shadow to the middle of the feathers.

Here is the second card I created where I used Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.  I think I actually like this one better because I added more ink then the first one.

Once the inks were dry, I added a Nuvo Shimmer pen to my feathers to give them a little sparkle. It’s hard to see in the pictures and on camera but it’s beautiful!

For a little more interest and sparkle, I added some gorgeous jewels from Pretty Pink Posh.

For the copic coloring I mentioned earlier, it really varies depending on what color of Distress Ink you use. Here are the colors I chose to you.
