It’s time to hop! The three new stamp sets from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps are now available for purchase over on the Kraftin Kimmie website. For my hop project today, I’m putting a spotlight on the Kicky Assy birthday stamp. I love these sentiments and the different fonts on them!
I decided to dig into my alcohol inks to create a background for this one. I’ve seen this technique dont by Jessica Frost-Ballas where you add some foil to the background and decided to give it a shot.
I started out with a piece of Yupo paper. This is a specialty paper that works fabulous with alcohol inks. You can’t use regular cardstock or the inks won’t “move” .. I’m also covering my desk with a craft mat because this can get a little messy. I start out by randomly dropping a few different colors on inks onto my Yupo paper. I help it move by adding some Blending Solution and then blowing the inks around with a straw. Super cool!! I keep adding ink, blending solution and moving the ink around until I have some color built up.
Alcohol inks dry fairly quickly. I then take a sheet of Gold Foil from Thermoweb and lay it down ontop of my alcohol ink background. I’m going to use a rubber brayer and go back and forth over that foil, putting down some firm pressure. When you remove the foil … oh … my … goodness!! It’s seriously stunning!!! I put my foil down one more and try to catch any spots that I think could pick up more of the foil. I adore this technique!!
I’m using my sentiment from the Kicky Assy stamp set from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps and I’ll stamp that onto black cardstock using Wow Embossing Ink. Then apply some Gina K Gold embossing powder. I thought this would really help make the foil pop off my card. Next, I just mat the sentiment with a piece of white cardstock.
The finishing touches are trimming the alcohol ink background down to
4″ x 5 /14″ and attaching to an A2 size card base. I could create backgrounds like this all day!!
