Newton’s Easter Basket -Guest Designer

Welcome everyone! I am super excited to say that I’m guest designing over at Newton’s Nook Designs. They have some super adorable images and I love seeing what they will be doing each month. PLUS on top of amazing stamps, they have dies and stencils too!! Be sure to check out their site!
For my first project, I’m creating a card with Newton’s Easter Basket stamp set. Isn’t Newton adorable? And don’t forget that cute little rabbit tucked in by the eggs. I decided for my card to do a little masking. I have a process video of my card down below as well that you can view here on my blog or on my Youtube channel.
I’m starting off my taking a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Neenah white cardstock and stamping my image using My Favorite Things Extreme Black which is a copic friendly ink. I like to use my Misti tool just in case it doesn’t stamp completely for me the first time, I can easily stamp it again for perfect alignment. Next, I created a mask for my image using some Inkadinkado Masking Paper and attached that to my stamped image to protect it.
Next, I’m going to add some painters tape to section off where I want to ink blend. I purposely lined it up so part of the image would be above the ink. I think this helps draw the attention that its masked off and Newton won’t get lost in the blending. I’m going to apply some Shaded Lilac distress oxide to the bottom and Mermaid Lagoon distress oxide to the top portion. To add a little more interest, I’m going to use some of the smaller images from this stamp set and randomly stamp them in my blended area. I’ll use Simon Says Stamp Hot Mama on the Shaded Lilac and Catherine Pooler’s Something Borrowed onto the Mermaid Lagoon.
I’ll be honest, at this point I thought I overdid because there is a lot to the image itself but I kept going! I colored my image with copic markers adding a little shading here and there to show some depth and dimension. I also grounded my image by coloring on top of the Shaded Lilac ink.
I finished off the card by stamping the sentiment on to the panel and adding craft foam with double sided adhesive to attach to my A2 size cardbase. I am really glad I kept going with this card as I love how it all came together! This is such a great image and so much more on this stamp set!

Masking with Newton’s Nook

Hi everyone! I’m here today to share a card I created for Inky Paws Challenge #57 from Newton’s Nook.
A little warning, if you see typos I’m truly sorry. I got a new computer yesterday and I am having the hardest time getting used to the keyboard for some reason. I’m trying to catch the typing errors but some may slip through.
Onward to the card! Like I said, I have a new computer, and Apple Air. I worked on setting it up all day and needed to immerse myself in a card. So I did some masking and if you follow my blog you know I don’t like to fussy cut haha. But it took my mind off of things.
The Inky Paws challenge is creating a card that is Fall Themed and when I think of Fall, pumpkins and leaves come to mind. I used a couple images from the Bootiful Night stamp set. I created a mask for both images and then stamped onto my card. Before I did anything else, I stamped my sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp.
I applied my masks and then distressed the background with Faded Denim and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink for the sky. I used Peeled Paint distress ink for the bottom.
I noticed as I was writing up my blog post that I didn’t shade UNDER my pumpkins on the grass. I actually should have added shading there because they are sitting on the ground but completely spaced it.
Then I colored my images in copic markers. I finished off the card by layering it onto some white and orange cardstock. For a finishing touch, I added Dandelion Yellow Nuvo drops to the pumpkin faces and a couple Nuvo Morning Dew drops around the card.

Autumn Wishes – Kraftin Kimmie Stamps

Welcome to another Wonderful Wednesday Challenge over at Kraftin Kimmie Stamps! I hope you can join us! You never know … you win ! Be sure to check out the Kraftin Kimmie Blog for more details!
My card for today is featuring Autumn Wishes. All supplies will be listed at the end of the post.
I originally had in mind of creating a fall themed card but once I started coloring and getting out some inks it kind of changed its course lol…
I started out by stamping this sweet image onto some Neenah white cardstock and coloring with my copic markers. I was using fall colors for her outfit as that is what I had in mind at first. I then cut her out with my Scan n Cut. My original background I created for her didn’t work out so well so instead I grabbed some distress ink oxide and did some ink blending. You cant’ fail with a little ink blending.
I started out with a piece of cardstock measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″ and masking off a strip on the edges using some post it tape. Then I lightly ink blended some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide – it matched the yummy cotton candy she’s holding!
I added this panel to a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base and then added my  cut out cutie to the corner of the card using some foam squares. I die cut the word Smile from black cardstock and added that above my image – curving it slightly. Finishing touch is added some Nuvo glitter Pink Champagne drops – to match the cotton cotton again of course!

Forever Friends – Simon Says Stamp

Hi Everyone! Sorry for all the posts today lol but I’m back again to share a card for the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp blog featuring one of their Stamptember sets that was recently released. How cute are these critters?! Have you noticed I love critter stamps? I couldn’t pick just one to color up so I did all the critters on this stamp set.
Supplies will be linked at the bottom of this post.
I started out by stamping all of these critters onto Neenah White Cardstock with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink with my Misti (best tool ever!) Then I colored them all up with my copic markers. I didn’t want to have a huge list (or pile) of colors so I tried to use the same ones throughout the critters.
Once they were all colored in I cut them out with my Scan n Cut Machine.
I made the same background for each since I thought these would make adorable note cards. My main piece that I was going to do the ink blending on measure 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ so that is the size I cut my masking paper to. Then I ran it through my big shot machine with the MOD Square Stacks die so it would cut out the middle section. I then applied that to my card so it leaves the middle open for me to do some ink blending on. This masking paper is great because it will stick to the paper enough to mask your area off but won’t tear your paper when you remove it.
I used Salty Ocean and Twisted Citron Distress Oxides on the Bristol Smooth cardstock. Such a pretty combo!! I removed my mask and did the same for the next 3 cards.
Once the blending was done, I lined up where each critter would go and figured out where the sentiments would go. Then stamped those with Versafine Ink which is nice black ink but it does take a while to dry on the oxides. I attached this card piece to a 4″ x 4″ size notecard.
Finally, I added each of my critters to the cards using foam squares. These critters are so adorable! I cannot wait to make more!!

Magical Day – Masking with Neat & Tangled

The days are just flying by – don’t you agree? Before we know it, school will be back in session and let me tell you … I will be ready to give out some cards to the teachers !
Today I’m sharing a card I made for the Neat & Tangled monthly challenge – Masking. Now … masking is NOT my favorite technique because it usually means I have to fussy cut haha! And you all know how I love my Scan n Cut machine ! But ….. I do find it a beautiful technique!
I created a mask for my unicorn (spirit animal ha!) using the Inkadinkado Masking Paper. I stamped my image onto my Neenah White Cardstock and added my mask on top.
Next I put a strip of the same masking paper on the top and bottom of my cardstock. I typically use my painters tape but sometimes it rips the paper and I thought “hey! you have masking paper!” … so I used that and it worked perfectly!
I left the small strip through the middle and had my unicorn sticking out the top. Then I blended Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks.
Once I removed my masking strips, I started coloring the unicorn with my copic markers. I was going off an image in my head of the beautiful all white unicorns like I used to collect figures of…. I don’t know if I did it justice but I sure tried! For a finishing touch, I added some Pink Lemonade & Pixie Dust Sequins Mix.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and it inspired you to create!
