Hi everyone! I am the host for the August Challenge for Gina K Designs. I thought instead of featuring a theme, we would work with a design concept. You can use any Gina K Designs stamp set in your stash to play along!
My design concept is White Space. Some of you may know it and some may have been doing it without realizing it. White space doesn’t always have to be white. The main thing to remember is create space on your card. This allows the image or sentiment you have chosen to take center stage. It is also very relaxing to the eyes.
To enter the challenge this month all you need to do is create “white” space on your card and link it on the Gina K Designs blog. Easy peasy right?

It’s really hard to see in my pictures but I dry embossed the Art Deco Stencil onto white cardstock to create a subtle background.

My images are from the Your Own Kind of Beautiful which I stamped in Obsidian Ink and colored with copic markers. The copic colors I used are: YG67, YG17, YG13; G29, G28, G07; and G29, YG17, YG06 for the cactus. For the pot I used E18, E19, E08, E97 and the flower is RV29, RV14, RV13.
The sentiment is heat embossed in white onto Black Onyx cardstock and comes from the stamp set Wrapped in Love. I wanted just a simple sentiment to add to my card without taking away from the images.
Notice how I have lots of “space” on the card.
My inspiration comes from Cathy Zielske also known as CZDesign. She has a series on her Youtube channel teaching design concepts and she’s a genius. She explains things very well as she’s had years of design experience and knows her stuff! Be sure to check her out.
