Cards Distress Water Coloring Stencils

Watercolor with Distress Inks – Cherry Blossoms

Welcome back! Today I’m going to be sharing how I created this card by watercoloring with Distress Inks using the Cherry Blossom stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh.
I’ve really been wanting to explore other coloring mediums such as watercolor but I was very intimidated. Then I thought that a good place to start was to use Distress Inks. I heat embossed my flowers from the Cherry Blossoms stamp set with gold embossing powder. This helps keep the water contained in case you go overboard (like I sometimes do)
I used Spun Sugar and Festive Berries Distress Ink to watercolor my flowers. Using a glass media mat, I squished down some ink and will use that as my palette. I start out by wetting my brush, picking up a little of the Spun Sugar and coloring in a flower. Then I’ll add some Festive Berries and let the water do it’s magic.
Once dry, I use the coordinating die to diecut everything out.
For my background, I stenciled on the Grid stencil with Broken China then splattered the background with Salty Ocean. I diecut the panel using the Stitched Rectangle die so I can add to an A2 size cardbase later. My sentiment is stamped from the Woodland Critters stamp set in Gina K Designs Amalgam ink. I’ll use Gina K connect glue to attach my flowers and leaves to the card. For the flowers that will be in the front, I attached with foam squares for dimension.
For a little extra interest, I add the Sparkling Clear Confetti around the sentiment and top off the flowers with a shimmer pen.
Here is a video of my process that you view down below on HERE on my Youtube channel.
