Welcome back to another post/video for Lawn Fawn!! WARNING! Lots of inspiring pictures!
Lawn Fawn is teaming up with Xyron this week so be sure to head to their blog after my post to see more inspiration.
I had waaay too much fun creating this card. You ever get in “the zone” and just keep thinking of different things to add? Well…that was me on this card. Make that two cards. I decided to make an ocean background using my alcohol inks which were feeling a little left out lately.
For creating my background, I am using Yupo paper which is specific for alcohol inks. I’m sure there are other reasons to use it but I only know of alcohol inks haha! I did something different where I first added some Isopropyl Alcohol 91% to my Yupo paper with a dropper that I actually got from my essential oils. Once my background was saturated, I started adding the alcohol ink and then moving my paper around.
This was an interesting experiment for me. For one: wear gloves. Unless you are ok getting ink all over your hands and fingernails (see video). The Isopropyl alcohol made the alcohol inks blend much smoother and toned down the colors a little. If you are going to get inky, might as well make two backgrounds.
While those were drying, I stamped out a bunch of sea images. I have lots of smaller sets in my stash including So Jelly, Duh-nuh, and also the bigger set You Are Sublime. I copic colored all the images and die cut out using the coordinating dies which makes things so much easier.
I used my Xyron sticker maker to add adhesive to all of my small images. Trust me – the sticker maker is a must have in your crafty stash. You will wonder why you never had it before!
For the rest of the card, I die cut the Stitched Woodgrain die from Paper Bag cardstock. I also die cut the port hole frame from white cardstock. Then I added Versamark all over those port hole frames, added Gold embossing powder and heated.
In the inside of the card, I added an ocean bottom using the Stitched Hillside with Vanilla Malt cardstock.
