Book Dragon Bookmark – Kraftin Kimmie Stamps

I have a fun gift idea for you today for those kids heading back to school! This is a super cool bookmark I created using the stamp Book Dragon from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps! It is the perfect size!

I also have a color along video for the dragon down below.

I stamped my image on Neenah White Cardstock and colored it with copic markers. Once it was completely colored, I cut it out with my Scan and Cut machine. For the bookmark, I cut a piece of patterned paper to 2 1/4″ x 5 3/4″ and attached it to a piece of white cardstock measuring 2 1/2″ x 6″. I rounded the corners of both pieces before adhering then together.

I attached the dragon and sentiment to the bookmark and ran it through my laminator. This will be my daughter’s bookmark so I need it to survive middle school! I poked a couple holes with my Crop-a-dile and attached some yarn that I had handy.

I do no claim to be a professional at coloring with copics – this is just how I like to color and my process for it. I try to apply some theory behind my coloring but it most cases … it’s a mix of theory and just what I think look good to me.

I start with my darkest color first and I’ll work my way down to the lightest, blending those out. Sometimes I’ll go back over the areas I’ve colored and this can start to desaturate that depth which is one of the reasons why I go over them again in the same order.
