Cards Pink Fresh Studio Videos Washi Tape Youtube

Pinkfresh Studio The Daydream Edit Release Blog Hop

Welcome friends! Today I’m joining Pinkfresh Studio and friends in a blog hop celebrating The Daydream Edit release! I have some inspiration to share featuring some brand new products.

I’ve also included these cards in my latest video where I’m talking about grounding your images for a finished look.

I’m also going to be showing you how to use washi tape for your card making and experimenting with different surfaces like cardstock, vellum and acetate.

VIDEO

You can watch the video down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

I walk through all of the supplies used and provide a supply list in the video description. I also have a visual supply list linked at the end of this blog post for your convenience so I will briefly go over the main supplies used down below.

Keep in mind, this design trick can be used with any of your supplies you may already have.

So, what exactly is a grounding shape? Basically, it’s a simple shape — a rectangle, an oval, a circle, even just a strip of patterned paper — that you place underneath your focal point on the card. And the reason it works so well is that it gives your eye a place to land. Without it, your focal point can kind of feel like it’s just floating. With it, everything looks intentional and complete.

Now, I actually didn’t know this was a thing when I first started making cards. I was just recreating cards I found online and wondering why mine looked a little… off compared to what I was seeing. And then I started noticing this shape underneath almost every focal point on the cards that really caught my eye. Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.

I have a number of Pinkfresh products, but have yet to buy a suite with washi tape. What am I waiting for?! Your cards are stunning. The stamped background is perfect for the die cut washi flowers, but the grounding element really pulls it all together. Loved your video using this technique.
