Fall Inspired with SCT Magazine

Welcome everyone! I’m sharing some Fall Inspiration with Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine. While it may have started snowing in my neck of the woods, I am not ready to let go of the brilliant fall colors.

Today’s inspiration is from page 66 of the Fall 2020 issue from Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine. I loved Nina-Maria Trapani’s use of an intricate die with a striped background.

To create a fall background, I went hunting on Pinterest for some Fall color boards and found one that matched card stock I had on hand. To be honest, when I first starting cutting strips from Palm, Pesto, Mustard, Papaya, Pumpkin, and Cranberry card stock from Hero Arts, I wasn’t sure it was going to work.

As I layered on my strips of card stock, I began to see the bigger picture and became quite excited for the completed background. This is not a color combination I would normally have tried. I’m so glad that I stuck with it and kept going.

I wanted to add sparkle to my card to jazz it up a little so the Maple Leaf from Honey Bee Stamp is die cut from gold glitter card stock. Doesn’t this just give you all the Fall feels? Makes me forget that I have snow on my lawn right now.

Since these colors are very vibrant, I trimmed my panel down so I had a nice, thick white margin to break up the background. The bright white margin also really grabs the attention and makes the colors pop even more!

My initial plan was to add a large die cut word to my card front like the card that inspired me today but it honestly just seemed like too much. For me, whenever something just doesn’t “feel” right, I experiment with different options until that moment finally hits and I can yell “that’s it!” Do you ever have those moments?

That moment for me was when I added just a small, simple sentiment heat embossed in gold to match my leaf, onto black card stock.

Don’t be afraid to try new color combinations, you could be missing out on something amazing just waiting to be created!
