Hello friends! Today I’m sharing some holiday cardmaking inspiration featuring the brand new Limited Edition Religious Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp! This beautiful kit is perfect for creating meaningful holiday cards and is packed with so many wonderful products to help bring your projects to life.
For today’s project, I’m focusing on the Tranquil Dove 3D Embossing Folder included in the kit. There is also a coordinating stencil and die available separately, both of which I used to create my cards.
I actually created this card two different ways! While both designs look very similar, there are some subtle differences that show how versatile these products can be. Whether you love the simplicity of stenciling or the added texture of a 3D embossing folder, these techniques are a great way to get more out of your supplies.
For my first card, I wanted to show how beautiful the Tranquil Dove image looks using just the coordinating stencil without embossing the background.
The stencil makes it easy to add color to the different areas of the design, creating a soft and elegant look. I kept my color palette consistent between both cards so you could really see the difference that the embossing folder makes.
Here are the Simon Says Stamp ink colors I used:
I love how these colors work together to bring the image to life! The different shades of green add dimension to the foliage, while the other colors provide just the right amount of contrast.
One of my favorite things about having the coordinating die is being able to pop up the image for added dimension. Even without using the embossing folder, this gives the card a little extra interest and helps the design stand out.
To finish off my card, I created a double frame using the A2 Arches Dies from my stash. I used a piece of the beautiful Champagne Foil Cardstock included in the kit for the bottom layer and white cardstock for the top layer.
I love how the champagne foil adds just a touch of elegance without overpowering the main image. It’s such a pretty combination with the soft colors of the dove and foliage.
For the sentiment, I used the Glory to the Newborn King stamp set, which is also included in the kit. Coordinating dies for the sentiments are available separately, making it easy to cut them out and add dimension.
I popped up my sentiment to complete the card, keeping the overall design clean and simple while allowing the beautiful image to remain the focal point.
For my second card, I used the exact same design, ink colors, and layout, but this time I brought in the Tranquil Dove 3D Embossing Folder.
This is where you can really see the difference!
Instead of working on a smooth piece of cardstock, I started by embossing my white panel with the 3D embossing folder. Once the image was embossed, I used the coordinating stencil to add color.
The raised details from the embossing folder add so much beautiful texture and dimension to the design. It’s a subtle difference compared to the first card, but one that really makes the image come to life.
If you pick up the coordinating die, here’s a little tip! I recommend die cutting your dove first, then placing the die-cut image inside the embossing folder to add the detail. Once it’s embossed, you can finish by ink blending through the stencil.
This makes it easier to line everything up and gives you a beautifully detailed die-cut image that can be popped up on your card.
I finished this second card with the same double frame and sentiment treatment as the first, allowing the different techniques to really shine.
One of the things I love about this Limited Edition Religious Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp is how many different products are included. There are so many possibilities for creating beautiful holiday cards, whether you’re making a single special card or working on several to send to family and friends.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this holiday cardmaking inspiration and found a few ideas to try on your own projects.
