Hi everyone! It’s Mindy and welcome back to my blog! Today I’m sharing a sweet get well card featuring the adorable Clever Fox collection. This set includes four playful fox images in different poses, coordinating sentiments, tiny heart accents, and matching dies and stencils that make coloring quick and easy. I love having the stencil option because it gives beautiful blended results in just a few minutes.

Stamp First, Blend Second

I started by stamping my fox images onto white cardstock using Flannel Ink. I like using a light ink for this first impression because it allows me to do all of my ink blending without worrying about smearing a darker ink.

Next, I placed the coordinating stencil over the stamped images and used blending brushes to add color.

For the foxes, I blended Clay, Terracotta, and Brick from Trio 28 to create warm orange tones with lots of dimension.

I used Charcoal from Trio 20 for the paws and other darker details, and whatever soft pink was left on one of my blending brushes was perfect for adding a little color to the inside of the ears.

Once all of the blending was finished, I placed the cardstock back into my MISTI and restamped the images using Versafine Ink. This brings back all of those crisp black details that really make the images pop after coloring. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

Creating a Simple Scene

For the background, I wanted something soft that would frame the foxes without taking away from them. I reached for the Domed Arches Stencil, placed my cardstock onto a sticky mat, and centered the stencil over the card front.

Using blending brushes again, I blended Seafoam Ink across the upper portion of the arch and Sprout Ink along the bottom. This creates a simple outdoor-inspired scene that gives the foxes a place to sit while still keeping the overall design clean and uncluttered.

Sometimes a subtle background is all a card needs. The soft blended arch adds interest while naturally drawing your eye to the focal images.

Finishing the Card

To complete the design, I stamped one of the Clever Fox sentiments wishing someone a speedy recovery using Versafine Ink and cut it out with the coordinating die.

I added foam squares behind both foxes and the sentiment before arranging everything near the center of the blended arch. I let each piece slightly overlap the edge of the ink-blended area, which helps break up the background and gives the finished card a little extra dimension.

The combination of the warm fox colors against the soft greens creates a cheerful card that’s perfect for sending encouraging wishes to someone who could use a smile.
