Retro Wreath For Clean & Simple Cards

Hi friends! Mindy here, and today I’m sharing a Retro Wreath holiday card that blends nostalgic charm with a clean, modern twist. This wreath design is such a fun mix of vintage shapes and bold graphic elements, and the coordinating stencil makes it so easy to bring the entire piece to life with color.

I began by stamping the wreath in a light grey ink. Using a softer outline for the first impression allows the colors to really shine, and not contaminate the colors.

With the stencil in place, I added color using Cabbage, Artichoke, Kale, and Raindrop inks. These shades give that retro-meets-mid-century feel—cool greens, muted blues, and a subtle shift in tone as you move around the wreath. A small blending brush keeps the color placement precise without losing that soft, blended style.

After the stenciling was complete, I placed the panel back into my stamping tool and restamped the wreath with Versafine ink. This second stamping in bold black is what truly transforms the image—it sharpens all the details, deepens the contrast, and gives the wreath that crisp, graphic outline that feels both classic and contemporary.

To enhance that modern vibe, I kept the bow clean and simple by stamping it in black ink onto white cardstock and cutting it out with the coordinating die. The high-contrast black and white bow stands out intentionally against the colored wreath and reinforces that retro-modern balance.

For the sentiment, I used the Holiday Trio 1 die set and cut the word from brushed gold cardstock. Layering the die cuts adds just enough dimension to lift the sentiment forward, and the brushed gold gives a warm metallic glow without overwhelming the design. I placed it right in the center of the wreath for a clean, polished focal point.

The wreath sits on a card front made from Bellini cardstock—a beautiful, soft peachy tone that complements the greens and blues while giving the entire design a fresh, playful feel. A touch of Prism gems adds a little sparkle without distracting from the bold lines and retro shapes.

I hope this Retro Wreath card inspires you to mix bold outlines, soft blends, and unexpected color pairings in your next holiday project. Happy crafting, friends! 🎄✨
