I took advantage of the reactive properties of Distress Oxides by adding splatters of water, which created a soft, textured effect. To build on that, I pulled out some of my stash—Distress Mica Stain in Frozen Fog and Distress Spritz in Antique Linen—and added additional splatters for a beautiful shimmer and layered finish.
Creating seamless blends with Distress Oxide inks doesn’t have to feel intimidating. With the right color choices and a few simple techniques, you can transform your backgrounds from flat to dramatic and full of depth. My hope is that these tips inspire you to experiment with new combinations and enjoy the process of building bold, eye-catching layers.
