Today I have a beautiful card to share featuring the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Prairie Roses Layering Die Set—and I have to say, these blooms might just be my favorite yet!
I started by die cutting all the floral layers from white cardstock. One of my favorite techniques is to add color through ink blending—it gives me total control over the shades and allows for beautiful, seamless transitions.
For these Prairie Roses, I blended bright shades of pink starting at the center of the petals and working outward. This method gives the flowers depth and draws the eye right to the heart of the bloom.
For the leaves, I tried something a little different. I first brushed on a touch of yellow near the edges, then blended my favorite green inks over the top. This little trick gives the foliage a bright, spring-fresh look that really pops against the petals.
For the background, I reached for the Rounded Rectangles Mask Stencil. I ink blended within the mask, leaving a small white border around the edge for a clean, polished frame. It adds just enough structure without stealing attention from the florals.
Once the background was ready, I adhered the stems and leaves in the center of the card and then layered the flowers over the top, allowing them to naturally anchor the design and create a full, dimensional bouquet.
For the sentiment, I used the One-Go Solid Sentiment Strip Press Plate, pressed in Obsidian pigment ink. I love how bold and crisp it turned out—it balances the softness of the florals beautifully.
To finish, I sprinkled on a few iridescent sequins for that perfect hint of sparkle. ✨
