If you haven’t tried the lights from Pear Blossom Press you are missing out! Amanda makes it so easy to create a light card.

Today I’m using the Galaxy Peekaboo from Hero Arts. I started by heat embossing the image onto white cardstock using embossing ink and gold embossing powder.

Then I ink blended Grape Slush, Berry Smoothie, Blue Hawaii, and Pool Party Reactive Inks. I also ink blended the edges with Intensified Black ink then wiped off the excess ink with a towel. I trimmed my panel down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ using the Infinity Rectangles die and now I can start figuring out where to place my lights.

Since the light pack I’m using has 3 lights, I’m going to poke 3 holes into my card front where I want the lights to shine through. I made sure they formed a visual triangle which is typically more eye appealing when working with embellishments of any sort.

I taped my lights in place on the back of my panel. It’s best to use clear tape but I only had my purple Easy See tape on hand. I added a strong double sided adhesive to hold my battery pack in place and POOF! Done!

Now typically you would attach foam tape to the back of the panel but one thing I struggled with in the past was when I hit my button to light up the card, I could see where my foam tape was. So I improvised.

Instead of using foam tape ( we have layer the back to match the width of the battery pack so it lays flat on a card front) I layered together heavy card stock. I do this a lot instead of foam tape and it seemed to work out really well. My card is a little heavier but I am happier with the results when I light up my card.

I layered my panel onto a white mat measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″ and added to a card base made from Nautical cardstock.

My sentiment comes from the Shine Bright stamp set which quite honestly, I squealed in excitement on how well the sentiment matched my card.

Typically you want a way to tell the recipient that there is something interactive about the card. I gold embossed a Push Here sentiment onto black cardstock and die cut out with the Star Infinity die.

For an added bonus, I added clear enamel dots over the holes where the lights are and also spread a few more out throughout the card front.

Super cool right?!

One of these days I’ll put a video together to show you how easy they work but for now you can check out the Pear Blossom Press Youtube channel.
