Cards Distress Embossing Glaze Distress Oxide Inks

Distress Embossing Glaze Experimenting

Welcome everyone! I spent some time today playing with Distress Embossing Glaze from Ranger/Tim Holtz. This is a whole different medium to me but I sat down and just started playing with my inks.

One thing I needed to keep in mind is even though this is a tinted embossing powder, it is translucent. Meaning, you can see through it. Yes you could use Clear embossing powder but these have a tint to them that match the Distress ink line.

I started by ink smooshing a background using Group Espresso, Crackling Campfire, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks. There are a lot of layers going on here and I made sure to dry in between each one.

Then I went around and lightly ink blended the edges with the Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks.

There is a subtle interest to the background that you may not pick up on right away. I took the Harvest Flourish stencil from Gina K Designs (released at the end of October) , spritzed it with water and placed it on top of my background. I placed a paper towel over the top to catch any excess water, held for a moment and then removed the paper towel and stencil.

Next, I stamped some leaves from the Layered Leaf Prints stamp set from Gina K Designs in embossing ink, placing them randomly on my background. I sprinkled on the Crackling Campfire Distress Embossing Glaze (only color I have at the moment) and heat embossed.

You can see that it will still show what’s behind it but adds a touch of color on top as well. Very cool effect.

I got a little artsy and just started adding random splatters of gold metallic ink.

I finished off the card by die cutting the Maple Leaf from Honey Bee Stamps from some glitter card stock and adding to the card front with spray adhesive. My sentiment also comes from the Layered Leaf Prints stamp set in which I stamped in black ink onto white card stock.

This is totally out of character for me but I have to admit, a ton of fun! I hope you enjoy it too!
