VIDEO: Fall Alcohol Ink Backgrounds

Welcome everyone! It’s been a while since I played around with alcohol inks. I forget how much fun they are!

I wanted to create a couple Fall themed backgrounds. What I really love about creating Fall backgrounds is its one of the best times to just grab colors because if you make brown… it’s ok! It’s Fall!

I’m working on Tim Holtz Yupo paper and a glass media mat. Some of the colors I grabbed from my stash are Sienna, Rosewood, Dijon, Everglades, Mojito and Alloy-Gilded.

I’ll be using rubbing alcohol in a fine tip bottle to move my colors around.

Check out how that gilded just sparkles in the background!

This card came out just like I had pictured.

This next card, not so much what I had pictured lol. It’s always a best idea to swatch your colors so you know what they look like before mixing with other colors. I did not swatch.

I added a color that was way more red then I had thought and it took a little work to work it into the background. I’m still really happy with the background, it just wasn’t what I had envisioned. Because I refuse to waste Yupo paper, I’m going with it!

I die cut the work Blessed from white card stock and Metallic card stock and layered together onto vellum. This helps break it up from the background a little.

I also added a smaller sentiment at the bottom with black foam squares.

If you haven’t tried alcohol inks yet, I highly encourage it! It’s a lot of fun and a true definition of play time for the adults. I also recommend using the glass media mat for easy clean up and be sure to open a window if you want because you want to work in a well ventilated area.
