Welcome back! I have a video for you today sharing a block smooshing technique. This is something that has been around for a while but while playing with this technique, I did a happy accident so I thought I would share it with you in a video.

For today’s cards I’m using the Paradise Blooms, Birds of Paradise and Tropical Tweets stamp sets from Honey Bee Stamps.
The images and sentiment are stamped in copic friendly ink using my Misti Tool and then I colored in the images with copic markers. For the leaf I used G17, YG06 and YG00. For the flamingo I used RV29, RV14, RV13 & RV21; W8, W6, W4; Y38, Y35, Y32.
Ink smooshing is where I swipe an ink onto either a block or acetate sheet. You could even use a ziploc bag. I am using comfort blocks and these happen to have a grid etched on one side. I (accidently) swiped my ink onto the side with the grid lines. For the pink card I used Taffy and Lemon Drop Reactive Ink.
Then I spritzed water onto the block, flipped it over and squished it onto a piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock.
I let that sit for a few minutes and when I removed the block the ink had blended on its own and created a beautiful background. BUT because I inked up the side of the block that had the grid lines, it left a subtle pattern to the paper. Very cool effect!
This card I used Pool Party and Lemon Drop Reactive Inks.
I trimmed both panels down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and added to a white card front.
I finished by attaching my leaf to the card front with a dot runner and the flamingo and sentiment with foam squares.
This is a super cool technique that I hope you’ll give a try! It never comes out the same each time I do it which makes it even more fun!

Fabulous creations, Mindy!! Thanks so much for sharing this “happy accident”1 I will be trying this soon. I love both backgrounds but I think the pink wins out for me. It makes the flamingo pop more in my opinion!!
