Altenew July 2020 Stamp/Die/Stencil/Ink Release Video Hop + GIVEAWAY

Welcome everyone! I’m excited to be participating in the Altenew Video Hop over on Youtube celebrating their new release! I’m posting tons of inspiration here but be sure to leave your comments on the Youtube video to be eligible of the giveaway.

The inspiration in my video is focusing on the new Pigment Inks from Altenew. There are 8 colors being released. I’ll walk you through the ink pads and what I think of them.

CARDS

There are many ways you can use pigment inks. I’m focusing on ink blending because that is my go-to technique in card making, other then stamping that is. In my video I’ll be creating two cards: one on white card stock and one on Kraft card stock to show you how they look.

On both cards, I’m using the gorgeous new Courageous You stamp set and Mega Label Love stamp set. I’m also using the new Jet Black Pigment ink to stamp the floral image and then heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Pigment inks usually stay wet longer then dye inks which gives you the ability to heat emboss with them.

NOTE: In my video, I stated that these inks stay wet longer and can smudge but after more experimenting I find that they did NOT smudge. While they don’t dry as fast as a dye ink, there is still plenty of time to heat emboss with them.

With a finger dauber I ink blended Frosty Pink, Coral Berry and Ruby Red Pigment ink onto my flower. The embossing will resist the ink and I can wipe that excess away with a paper towel. For the leaves, I used the Forest Green and Everglades Pigment ink.

If you struggle with ink blending, I highly recommend giving these a try. They blend so smoothly with minimal effort.

While I used the same images and colors, you can see the difference it looks on each card stock and both are beautiful. I love how the ink holds true to its color on the Kraft card stock.

For the sentiments, I stamped the Mega Label Love in Jet Black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. This really makes the black pop and adds some shine.

Another take on the Courageous You stamp set is by heat embossing it onto watercolor cardstock and after spritzing with water, adding Nuvo Shimmer Powder. This is more an artistic feel. The colors spread into the heat embossed areas and leave different shades around the image.

Another set from the release is the cool Checkboard stamp set. I honestly thought of Minecraft immediately when I saw this set lol.. probably because my daughter used to play it all the time.

My next two cards are very similar in where I ink blended a background and then stamped the Checkerboard in White pigment ink.

I used the Circled Greetings Hello and Circled Greetings Hugs to cut a window out of white cardstock and added to the front of my ink blended checkerboard.

I cut those circled greetings again from Holographic cardstock, trimmed out just the word and added to the front, off setting just a smidge.

My last card for today features the Checkboard stamp set again with more of the Minecraft feel I was talking about. I stamped the Checkerboard in a light pink ink and the heart in a darker shade.

So simple yet so cute.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration. Don’t forget this is actually a VIDEO HOP. I just had more cards to share then what I put in my video.

Head to my Youtube channel to check out the card I created and join in the hop. There are prizes to be won!
