Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Happy Birthday!

Welcome everyone! I am so thrilled to be the in the Designer Spotlight for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. Each Wednesday in April I will be sharing inspiration with you to help kick-start your mojo.

This week’s challenge is Happy Birthday! Be sure to head to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge post for more details how to enter and link up your cards! We’d love for you to play along.

For my birthday card, I’m using the Marilyn Cover Die. I die cut the panel from White cardstock and then ink blended Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch Distress inks. I know most people ink blend first and then die cut but i did it backwards this time. This allowed me to really get the color where I wanted it.

After ink blending, I spritzed with water to break up the color a little since the Distress Inks are reactive to water. Then added my ink blended panel to a White card front with liquid glue.

I die cut Happy from Big Happy Word die out of Black cardstock and the shadow layer from White cardstock.

The Tiny Words Birthday stamp set was perfect for this card. I heat embossed three sentiments in white embossing powder onto Black cardstock and trimmed out with the Sentiment Strips Die.

The Happy word I added to my card front with liquid glue and the sentiment strips I added using foam tape for dimension. For a touch more sparkle, I went over the word Happy with an Aqua Shimmer Pen.

I finished off the card by adding some sequins from Neat & Tangled topped off with Sparkling Crystal Crystalline Drops from Gina K Designs.

I hope you’ll join us! Thank you Simon Says Stamp for inviting me this month.
