Birthday Tags with Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine

Welcome everyone! I’m over on the Scrapbook & Cards Today Papercrafts Magazine blog with some fun birthday tags. The magazine is celebrating 14 years and is celebrating all week long with inspiration and giveaways! Be sure to visit their BLOG.

I couldn’t resist this adorable new stamp set Decorate Cake from Hero Arts. It has images to create a Unicorn birthday cake and who doesn’t love a Unicorn birthday cake? You also can’t have a Unicorn without a rainbow. They just go hand-in-hand, right?

For simplicity, I kept the design of my tags similar with only minor changes like the color of flowers. I used my copic markers to color the unicorn and decorative banner hanging across the cake.

I didn’t want to take away from the adorable stamped image so I used Peony cardstock from Hero Arts which is a nice soft pink. I die cut the cardstock using the Treat Tag from My Favorite Things. A fun way to add sparkle to the tag is die cutting the topper of the tag from Gold Glitter card stock.

Even though the cardstock is light colored, the Unicorn really pops off the tag and is such a fun way to wish someone a Happy Birthday.

One other way to add some subtle sparkle to you tags and projects is using Gina K Designs Sparkling Crystal Drops. You can see in the close up shots how I applied it over my unicorn and banner.

One final piece is to attach some ribbon or in my case Lawn Fawn Trimmings to the top. I layered mine up a few times and tied together with a small bow. The new Pretty in Pink Sparkle Hemp Cord was a perfect finishing touch as it has small strands of silver sparkle in it.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration! I had so much fun making these adorable tags and I may have to keep one for myself!
