Cards Neat and Tangled Stencils

Masking Stencils

Welcome back everyone! Today I’m sharing a card that allows you to take a new look at your stencils by masking off certain areas and create a new unique design.

I’m going to be using the Hexastar Stecil from Neat & Tangled. I found an area on the stencil that created this shape and centered it on a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock. I started by masking off the design with post it tape.

Instead of using a ton of post it tape as I got closer to the nooks and crannies of the the design, I just used some scratch paper. This will help protect the areas that I don’t want ink on.

I’m using Festive Berries Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet Distress Inks. I apply my inks using mini finger daubers because these are small and can get into the fine areas.

Once my rainbow design was complete, I removed my masks and stencil. I stamped a sentiment in the center with Obsidian Black ink and the Foliage Frame stamp set. I kept this a simple one layer card and let the design speak for itself.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at your stencils and find more ways to use them.
