Paint with Water & Distress Oxides – Simon Says Stamp

This card was totally inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s video on painting with water on distress oxides. It’s so easy and such a gorgeous technique!

I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and randomly stamped some flower images around the card with Versamark Ink. I’m using the More Spring Flowers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. Then I heat emboss with Simon Says Stamp white embossing powder.

Next, I’ll add some Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink to the entire panel and white away the ink from my embossed images. I added some water to my craft mat and picked it up with a paint brush to paint the water onto my embossed images. Then dab up the excess water with a paper towel. This will lighten the area where the water was because of the way the ink is formulated. I’ll repeat this around the entire area that I embossed.

Once I finished my water painting, I’m going to trim down my panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and back it with craft foam. I love using craft foam because it gives a nice even coverage to the panel while adding dimension. Then I can add it to an A2 size cardbase.

For my sentiment, I’m using the CZ Designs stamp set Emphatic which has some really fun sentiments on it. I stamp this onto black cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat emboss with Simon Says Stamp White embossing powder. Then trim it down to a thin strip and add to my card panel.

I’m also taking the Big Thanks die set and I’m using White Glitter paper for the main sentiment and Vellum for the shadow layer. I’ll run both of these through my Xyron Sticker Maker and adhere to the card to finish it off. Such a gorgeous technique and so quick and easy to do!
